Tucked In

Alex got this blanket when he was born from Adam's aunt Jessica. It is so soft and cozy. Alex has really taken a liking to it the last couple weeks. When we tuck him in at night he likes the blanket wrapped around him with just his head poking out.

New Hideout

Alex commandeered a small spot in the cupboard where I keep the pots for his hideout spot. He collects toys in there with him and talks on his phone and tries to unlock the hinges with his keys.

Breakfast of Champions

The first time I gave some of these to Alex it was because he was asking for them and I thought he just wanted what I was eating. But he kept asking for more. He really likes bran flakes, dry or with milk.

Go Red Sox

Alex got this hat from a friend when he was born. He really enjoyed wearing it this afternoon.

Gettin' my read on!

I was on the phone in the front room and when I got off I realized how quiet it was in the apartment. I hurried to my room thinking I was going to find Alex doing something mischievious. But to my surprise I found him stretched out on the floor acting like he was reading Adam's President Monson book.

Adam's Big Day

Today was Adam's 27th birthday. He spent the day at work until about 11:15pm. Birthdays just aren't the same when you grow-up. But when he got home some of his favorite treats were waiting for him along with a few presents.

Snack Time

I let Alex take control of snack time today. The idea was for him to have a small bowl of yogurt and graham crackers to dip in it. But when the crackers were gone he started cleaning the bowl with his hands and tongue to polish off every last drop of yogurt. He was a mess but he loved it.

Dad?

In December Adam's last day of work was the 23rd. Then he took the rest of the month off for the holidays. Alex and I really enjoyed having him home. He returned to work yesterday. Today when Alex got up from his nap I put him in his high chair for a snack as usual. When he was done I washed his hands and put him on the floor. The minute his feet hit the ground he went running to Adam and my bedroom. He was looking up at the bed, whining, and touching his cheek with his index finger (which is how Alex says dad and mom in sign language). I realized what was going on and had to explain to him as he looked at me with wide eyes and continued poking his cheek that dad was at work and wouldn't be home until night time. Alex got used to eating breakfast and then going into the bedroom to see Adam during Christmas. We miss having him here at our beck and call.

Adrienne

Our good friend Ellen had her niece visiting from Florida during Christmas for two weeks. They came to see us every day. We loved having them over. We miss Adrienne and wished she lived closer! We had such a good time getting to know her, and also getting to know Ellen better.

Alex loved Adrienne too. She had monkey socks that made him laugh when she wiggled her toes, he loved her curly hair, and thought her boots were the best toys in the room. We wish the holidays were still here.

Trese

Adam's cousin Patrese came to visit us over New Year's Eve from D.C. She came to visit us last year in October 2009. This time she came we basically sat in the apartment for the two days she was here just talking and hanging out. It was so enjoyable to have her here. She was wearing a clear headband while she was here and Alex could not leave it alone. She had to keep reminding him that he couldn't play with it because it might break. He takes quite a bit of reminding on the "don'ts" and doesn't take hints very well either.
